A petit ensemble of ten singers and six instrumentalists presented an evening of baroque gems: Buxtehude “Der Herr ist mit mir”; Tunder “Hosianna dem Sohne Davids”; Corelli “Concerto Grosso Op.6 no.8” (Christmas Concerto); and Handel “Dixit Dominus”. The Musical Director again was Alison Burnett.
The was the second time I’ve performed as part of the Music in the Castle series, held in the Music Room at Powderham Castle.
Given the events of the preceding 36 hours, it felt like a small act of protest to drive in a Swedish car, lent by a friend qualified for an Irish passport, to a castle built by a Norman baron, to make music by German and Italian composers, and sing in German and Latin.
Keep an eye on the Music in the Castle website for future events and tickets.
