Uncut Poets, March 2026

Last night at the monthly in-person Uncut Poets at the Phoenix, we had an amazing performance from featured poet Greta Stoddart.

I chose to interweave poems about family and science for my open mic. I started with “Ars Prosaica”, which I wrote from a place of impostor syndrome! Then “QED”, on the subject of buying presents for my dad, including the sweatshirt featuring Maxwell’s equations that I wore as a prop’. And as I was on last, I finished up the whole evening with “Light enough”: “all along, God has been saying / Let there be light, Let there be I and You and We / for the wonder of it all.”

Last week, I got the wonderful news that my poem “Eulogy” was long-longlisted in the top 300 of the 21,000 National Poetry Competition entries. I should have included it in my set. Ah well, I can read it at the April Uncut Online instead.
