“Continue in my word”

‘If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples;
and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.’
— from John 8.31-42

On Wednesday evenings we assemble nine-square on screens
for lectio divina. Faithful sharers, we know the drill. Welcoming
the Spirit into this cyber-space to snag our hearts with a word or

phrase. Three readings of a psalm. Gathered silence. The go-rounds
(we are free to pass). Familiar faces and yes, though our beyond
lives unknown, often familiar responses. The one puzzling out

the sense. Another pondering relationships. A third already haloed.
Still, week by week our nuances disclose the gentle tugs, budging
budging us, altogether tangled in the Word’s traces, out of bounds.
