They encourage people to take their time, walk to work, and on the way discover new peaceful places.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Exeter City Futures launched <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210126053759\/https:\/\/www.exetercityfutures.com\/tranquil-city-exeter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Tranquil City in Exeter<\/a>, aiming to celebrate nature\u2019s presence in the Exeter, show how periods of rest are good for our mental well-being, and encourage walking and cycling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You can get involved<\/strong> in creating the map of tranquil spaces by posting a photo or short video to Instagram or Twitter, and tagging it with #TranquilCityExeter along with the location.<\/p>\n<p>When I wrote this on 17 January 2018, the map marked only a very few tranquil places in St Loyes: the old green lane section of Quarry Lane; Digby Water Tower; the green space around Digby and Sowton railway station; and possibly also the summer cornflowers in Ludwell Valley Park. There are many more; they might just not be that obvious.<\/p>\n<p>If you work in St Loyes, say on Sowton industrial estate, why not have an explore during your lunch break, and look for hedgerows, trees, and pockets of green set back from the roads?
