Shared Lectio Divina, 26 May 2020

Since April 2020, I have been jointly hosting a shared Lectio group on Tuesday evenings. The following are my reflections only, during the prayer session and as I wrote them up. Please see my separate commentary and leaflet for more information about shared Lectio, and here is the whole collection of reflections…

Gospel reading: John 17.1-11

Words: gave, give, given

I imagine God as Creator and Sustainer, lovingly wrapping me as a gift, giving me to Jesus to open, and the wonder and delight on Jesus’ face as he unwraps me.

How much have I allowed him to unwrap and how much am I still clinging to the paper?

I spend some time dwelling the memory of once sending some yellow lilies to a friend, her delighted response to receiving them, and her description of how lovingly she looked after them. How lovingly Jesus takes care of me.
