Shared Lectio Divina, 19 May 2020

Since April 2020, I have been jointly hosting a shared Lectio group on Tuesday evenings. The following are my reflections only, during the prayer session and as I wrote them up. Please see my separate commentary and leaflet for more information about shared Lectio, and here is the whole collection of reflections…

Gospel reading: John 16.5-11

Words: sorrow … none of you asks me

I feel a sadness in Jesus’ voice. He is so ready to answer, when asked where he is going, or to give something, so ‘Ask, and it will be given to you’ – even though the reply or the gift is sometimes oblique, always with what is needed.

Is it still the case that no-one asks? Well at this season I am jolly well going to ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank you.
