FALAFELS stands for Free Art Friday Exeter St Loyes Loves Anagrams. You have to think about it a bit!
Free Art Friday is about leaving small pieces of art in public spaces for other people to find, enjoy and take away. It is a joyful way of sharing art, and brightening someone’s day. The artist MyDogSighs started it in 2007, and I have been involved in Free Art Friday Exeter in a low-key way since 2014.
FALAFELS may turn out to be one of the ongoing activities within “Working with Gold”. I’ve been experimenting: combining it with What three words…? to see whether people have an appetite for sharing their experiences of their place. I’ve been making cards with my photos of St Loyes on one side, and an example of three words on the other.
This is an example of what I dropped yesterday. I’m posting them all @workingwithgold on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
My hopes for FALAFELS are that people find and enjoy the pieces, and are inspired to get involved and do some Free Art Friday drops themselves. The more the merrier!
